Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
