The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting in Providence were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the discharge by local law enforcement of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies publicly, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.
