Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a Los Angeles Traffic Collision

Vince Zampella, who helped create the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in California aged 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The influential industry figure passed away following his automobile collided and burst into flames on a highway in LA on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
